It's non-trivial to get a set of fonts (roman, italic, bold, bold-italic) which are all of the same width, even if individually they're monospaced. That kind of thing looks pretty horrible in, for example, the package list screen (although it does make the differences stand out, I suppose). It would be really cool not to have to worry, and for most things to just work. And having proportional fonts usable would be nice, too.
