You're probably thinking of either Andrew Choi's
"carbon" port (now
unmaintained) or the much older port by a guy whose name I forget
now. Both of those are native ports to Mac OS X. AFAIK there never
was any such icon for vanilla XEmacs.
No, neither of them. But a colleague of mine you used it as well in
Leopard, told me it stopped working in Lion and above, so I stop
searching.
However, it would be about three lines of Applescript, and that can
be
treated as a Mac app, added to menus and given an icon, started
automatically with launchd, etc.
Hm, for somebody who has never seen Applescript, these 3 lines would
be......

BTW it seems that the F1-F12 also do not work, do I need them to
activate via xmodmap?
