Hello
I remember this was discussed a while ago, but I did not remember
whether there was a solution.
Folding.el written by Jari Aalto and others, worked painless up to the
21.1.14 version, than later isearch was/is broken, that is the cursor
does not enter in a fold when searching.
Besides when saving, all folds were saved.
I wrote the authors without success.
Does anybody know about this problem.

You'll have to provide more info. It appears to be working for me on
21.1.3 (on Solaris) and 21.4.11 (on NT). Have you looked at the
comments in folding.el to see what fix might've addressed this?

your place?

Yes it works
for the 21.1.x series, as I said.

I hoped this was solved meanwhile.
It does not work for me on 21.4.12 (Linux) nor on 21.4.11 Win9x, I am
stunned that it seems to work for you, can you send me your setting?
Mine is:

(folding-mode-add-find-file-hook)

How do you mean? Are you sure folding.el has been setup properly at

Grr I meant all folds were closed.

Yes it works for the 21.1.x series, as I said.
I know, but those were the only two I had available to test it with.

Hmmmm. This isn't in my version of folding.el.
I hoped this was solved meanwhile.
Maybe it was. My version in 21.4.11 (NT) was 2.107 (see top of
folding.el) and it came as part of the text-modes package in XEmacs.
How old is your version of folding.el? Did it come as an XEmacs
package?

your folding.el from site-lisp (if that's where you keep it) and let
XEmacs pick up the one in xemacs-packages/lisp/text-modes.

Right you are, I downloaded by version directly from the download link
in xemacs.org which points to
http://user.it.uu.se/~andersl/emacs.shtml#folding
and there I find version
2.96,
while the actual version is 2.107 (part of text-modes)
After installing this and throwing away my old one, everything went
smooth. I think I write adrian.
