I would like to second that a CL-using XEmacs *should* follow Ansi CL
as close as possible. If one wants to sell Lisp as a language, we
should opt for being as standarized as possible (note that Clisp is
not ANSI CL, there are some points where it does not follow the
standard).

No, no. CLtLn is not good for toilet reading. Anybody stating that one
could learn Common Lisp from CLtLn is either a guru or is shouting
"Jehova !" Note also that the HyperSpec is also not a representation
of the official spec, but it is probably very close (read: really
_very_ close).
If I should recommend one book on Lisp (especially ANSI CL), I would
recommend "ANSI CL" by Paul Graham, which I think is just excellent.
