He's probably a latex user. Working with Unicode (sometimes) can be a simple
as:

So, I guess, many people will think that utf8 is what it is really called.
There's also `utf8x' for `inputenc.sty'. But the inputenc options are
different to valid MIME charsets anyhow (cf. `texdoc inputenc' or
`latex-inputenc-coding-alist' in Emacs 22).
The interesting point is whether Mutt would be able to detect this
miss-configuration and warn the user about it.
