I installed the efs & dired packages into the 
.../xemacs-packages/ directory 
I can now do all the things Adrian referred to
in his emails. I have gone through the process 
of installing the 3 packages ( efs/dired/base ).
I now get all buttons to work.  I will now 
proceed to read the Users Guide and manual and 
practice all of it LIVE.
