getting URLs to fire off to a running Firefox

Running xemacs 21.4 (patch 15) on SuSe Linux Pro 9.2.

A couple of years ago I lost the ability to right click
a URL in email or news and never bothered to track it
down.

Now I've got a new job and am interested in restoring
that feature. The scenario is as follows. I might see a
URL in email, e.g.:

  http://www.google.com

to pick an easy example.
