(I've used it for at least a decade, since long before the XEmacs distribution took its present form.) It's definitely located in my xemacs-packages tree. I have not used it in quite a while, perhaps a year. It has never failed before now. o I do note that it is not listed from Tools => Packages => List and Install. I guessed it's contained within the text-modes package, so just updated that and started a fresh XEmacs. The bug remains. o The only reference I can find to get-coding-system in all the elisp files is in coding.el, which says this: (defalias 'check-coding-system 'get-coding-system) I find no direct reference to check-coding-system in hexl.el. I can't track it any further. o I tried posting this problem on comp.emacs.xemacs but no one responded. I do hope this is the right place to report such things. o I was a beta tester for XEmacs a long time ago, but have been out of the loop for several years.
