That was my initial reaction, as well.
The problem with that approach is that it degrades our ability to take
in updates to packages. I'm concerned that the rest of the world would
march along, and the XEmacs packages would get further and further
behind.
Though come to think of it, I guess we're already facing that
possibility because of the GPLv3 issue.
So I'm okay with reverting the troublesome packages for now. Of course,
that's easy for me to say since none of my packages would be reverted.
(And I'm not on the Review Board.) ;-)
