The *first* question is, of course, what the design goals of
adding an extension language are. What perceived need for
an extension language is there, and what will it be expected to do?
Having said that of course, I'd have to second the nomination
of one of the other more modern languages. And definitely
Unicode is the way to go. ;)

But not something you want to bolt onto the side of something else.
The mind shudders to contemplate a 560K LyX binary dragging a
12M XEmacs image along like a tumor. ;)
