But what does "support" mean here? I agree that we shouldn't require an
upgrade of 21.4 before a user can install and run new packages.
On the other hand, I don't see a big problem telling package maintainers
and anyone else who builds from CVS that they'll need to upgrade their
installation of 21.4.
One thing I'm unclear on: does the problem affect users' ability to
recompile individual files or packages (e.g., M-x
byte-recompile-directory), or does it just affect people who build from
CVS?
