options.el vs init.el

The rebuild with gifs worked fine, but I had to delete a .emacs file that pointed to the .xemac directory and I had to change the name of options.el to init.el to get my painstakingly configured options to work. I don't remember this being the case last weekend, but perhaps running the binary in place is why. Recompiled with mule, also, and dmalloc for libc5.4. All goes well. I don't have a beta 40 left to compare it with, but it seems to be faster to load. Also, although I didn't install it, I was able for the first time to build with just the bare ./configure -- first time or the first time in a long, long time. However went back to configure options as I wanted to configure with mule. Can try just configure --with-mule=yes. By the way, I got rid of the stray libc formerly known as 6 rpms -- this box is pure libc 5.4 now. -- Rebecca Ore
