font-lock problems with 2/9/2001 build

Using the version of "font-lock.el" in the latest 21.2 build (revision 1.7.2.28), loading any file which requires font-lock seems to peg the CPU. Reverting to revision 1.7.2.27 fixes things.... -lipp
