Good point. That works, but instead try the following recipe:
cd packages
cvs update -dP
make distclean autoloads
cd xemacs-packages/eshell
make bindist
cd ../ecb
make bindist
FWIW, I got the same problem and I agree with Vin's solution (the
autoload cookie). I'm inclined to think that if a simple
"cvs update ; make install" doesn't work, then something is broken in the
package installation. I find it abnormal that you have to 'make distclean' for
things to work properly.
Also, I'm wondering why you have to compile all the packages all the
time, even those you don't want to install. This is boring, especially when
those packages don't compile ;-)
