defsymbol (&Qsyntax_table, "syntax-table");
in syms_of_syntax. Try that. Why pdump tromps on the other idiom I
can't say offhand.
That did it. I'll submit the patch to xemacs-patches later tonight, but
for those who want the fix now, it's attached. This should completely
fix the font-lock hanging bug with the new syntax-table stuff.
Steve (Youngs), could you test this and let me know for sure? Thanks.
