I'm not sure what you mean by that. Mike's plan involves changes to
21.4, and backward incompatibility with 21.4.x for x < 22 (they still
won't be able to build those packages). My plan involves no changes
to 21.4, but rather monkey-patching at runtime to support the needed
new features. The code is the same, the question is whether to add it
to < 21.5 at XEmacs build time or at package build time.
Or do you think it's worth releasing the packages based on the

No, that's just asking for trouble with existing stable XEmacsen.
Let's not do that.
