I've seen it in the past when I press Return on a command in a shell buffer,
and also displaying notes to read in GNUS. I just saw it again when I started
to reply to this note. The "font-locking" progress panel appeared and stayed
there for a few seconds without changing. As soon as I clicked outside of the
window, on the desktop, the progress bar filled up, the panel went away, and
the reply window appeared.

Before I do that, tell me exactly what you want me to try. The simplest test
would be for me to move all my windows to the first workspace (or dismiss
them), then exit sDesk, and try loading a file, or do you need me to reboot and
kill sDesk before I start XEmacs?
