Sure that they are transparent?
I'll try to fudge something with glyph-image and make-glyph and
whatever else in order not to change the icon background in the text
window, and come whining back when I fail again.
It does not work in 21.4.8, no matter what I do to the icon while
copying it, and no matter when I try to set the toolbar-face and its
color, and even if I set it explicitly to "white", it will remain
black. Are you sure we are talking about the same thing? I am not
talking about the color surrounding the icon, I am talking about the
color shining through the transparent portions of the PNG.
Not that using set-glyph-face would make a difference on either.
