We're not going to achieve anything by complaining about the CDE
directory structure. In its defense, it is a Good Thing that X11 and
CDE are installed into different directory trees, since they had
different maintainer groups and licensing terms (though that may be changing).
So isn't it wonderful that XEmacs detects an installed CDE, without
the user having to specify it to configure?
The goal is to have XEmacs easy to install using
`configure; make install'
on all `standard' systems, while giving the sophisticated installer
full control via command line arguments to configure.
We're not there yet.
