Now, bizarrely I'm going to side with Kyle on this.
Cursed be the villain ! :-)
Now I actually agree with Kyle that -bg/-fg should set the colors of
the
widgets.
I /might/ not disagree with this if this doesn't imply _setting_ the
default face too. Which doesn't mean the default face couldn't _honor_ -fg and
-bg in one way or another.
The outstanding issue now (as I see it) is that by default -bg
affects the
default face as well. I agree with Didier on this, it should not look the
same as the widgets and IMHO we should therefore set the _default face
background_ to something sensible.
All right. We're close to be on the same wavelength. Now we must ask
ourselve the question: when Joe uses -fg and -bg, what does he expect to get
the colors ? Widgets or text ? Hmmm, sounds arguable.
But I don't think we are going to resolve this for 21.0.
Certainly not. But please, I repeat, if we don't want a flow of
complaints 2 hours after the release, better not doing it at all than doing it
bogusly. So leave the widgets alone for 21.0.
