If that's not it, you probably have both Lesstif and OpenMotif installed. This is only a problem on Red Hat, because of the way they install the libraries under the same name in the same directory. rpm --bullet-between-the-eyes one-motif-package. If neither of those help, try running xemacs -nw in a terminal and use M-x report-emacs-bug to send a full report.
