The font menu serves no purpose if there is a font selection dialog
box available.
Well, maybe. A font selection dialog doesn't do what I want it to do:
I want it to be easy for me to choose the base fonts (default, italic,
bold, bold-italic) such that all have the same width. I don't want to
have to choose the fonts individually, and nor do I want to try to
guess a default font that XEmacs can guess suitable variants from.
I want to be able to do these things, and the gtk+ font selection
dialog is fine for those. But mostly, I'd just like a font menu that
gives me choices that XEmacs knows will work.
I'd just go ahead and make Options->Font popup the dialog box.
That may be the best thing to start with. Ultimately, I'd like to see
something higher-level too. I can wait, though!
