Gnus has some glitches but I haven't used it in a while. Recent
VM
fairly well in 21.4 and 21.5.26, but it's abominable in HEAD. The
cursor position consistently gets reset to a message I viewed last in
2007, on return from message mode I'll typically see the wrong summary
buffer, the cursor and VM's idea of the current message are almost
never in sync, etc.
I fixed at least one of the underlying problems, but it had nothing to
do with the windows-config code in the XEmacs core.
You can say it's VM's fault for using low-level internal
facilities,
but then I riposte that it's RMS's fault for being such a flasher,
exposing his internals everywhere. There just aren't any internals in
Emacs, everything's part of the API.
Absolutely. But my point wasn't to blame anybody or anything, but
rather to find out whether there's anything left to be done for the
window-config code in the core---that's what I'm an expert on. I don't
use or grok VM. As to VM, I don't know what a good strategy is given
the state the head is in; I'm inclined to sit it out until that
stabilizes, but I'd ben happy to hear alternative suggestions.
