Steve,
While I think whatever pays your bills is none of your business, I
would have liked to have heard it from you first.
I'm working on a public response to it. The short version of the
answer is:
Yes, I am working part-time for Altrasoft and I am coordinating the
forthcoming version of InfoDock. This hasn't been kept secret, but I
haven't been shouting it from every rooftop either.
Hyperbole and the OO Browser were removed from XEmacs at the request
of the author. That is standard policy as far as I'm concerned.
The previous version of InfoDock was based on XEmacs 19.13. Due to
limitations of that version of XEmacs, a considerable amount of code
was rewritten. In the case of conflicts with current versions of that
code, the InfoDock changes have been integrated into XEmacs.
The code I contribute to XEmacs is GPL'ed and FSF copyright assigned.
It will continue to be GPL'ed and FSF copyright assigned.
I do not envision XEmacs becoming a "Poor Man's InfoDock" (whatever
that was supposed to mean). I may be getting paid for developing
InfoDock, but my heart belongs to XEmacs.
I hope this clears things up.
I am assuming this is a coordination failure between you and Bob
Weiner, but since it is in the open now, could you please comment?
Maybe shed some light on the issues raised by somebody who
unfortunately has chosen to remain anonymous on c.e.x?
