Known bug, fixed in latest CVS since several month, you should update
your copy of XEmacs 21.5 via Snapshot tarball or CVS update.
unfortunately I've been unable to build 21.5 for some time:

for the moment I've reverted to 21.4.10RC3, which builds and runs fine -
