gtk-xemacs problem

I encountered a nasty problem. I think it was after I used ediff. A
scrollbar was left on the screen. It didn't actually connect to
anything, and was in the middle of some text. The usual tricks such
as icon/deicon would not make it go away. I finally had to just give
up and quit emacs to get rid of it.
