OK, I have a couple of patches that resolve the problem (tested
lightly), which I've posted to both X.org and MacPorts Bugzillas. For
posterity's sake:
https://trac.macports.org/ticket/18491
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20048
Thanks to Aidan and Robert for bearing with me.
Stephen, it is the case, then that you only see this with the macports
libraries?
Are your macports libraries multiarchitecture (even if just 32/64 bit on
the Intel OR PPC)? I have no idea whether this could affect the
outcome, but all of my macports libraries support only ppc not ppc64,
i386, or x86_64. All of the libraries that Jeremy provides support four
architectures.
Also, in some cases, Jeremy has issued revised updates because his
development space was out of sink with the builds he made. Perhaps some
of the modules in the libraries are making it into the binaries he makes
available but are not in the sources being used to build the MP files.
IIRC, there were some headers that were off version in at least one of
the revisions. Not enough to cause this kind of differentiation but
perhaps emblematic of a cause.
