throw them away.
That is what the user asked for. It does not in general make any
sense to customize a face or option with both customize and Lisp[1].
That is a basic design decision. You must choose one or the other.
However, one could argue that custom should only reset the attributes
it knows about. I fear that would require a better font model though.
