The flashing requires that the original frame be partially obscured,

If it is not obscured, the gutter, plus any buffer text below the
single tab to a depth of about 50 pixels (bug?), disappears until the

At which point the scratch buffer is displayed in that frame but the

Confirmed several times. Start xemacs, start vm from menu apps | vm.

OK, yes, the flashing is fixed in the new one for both cases. I
gather from your discussion with Steve that the patch might cause
problems? Can you say what they might look like so I can look for
them?
Repainting the gutter still seems to clear an excessively large area
though.

Very light testing indicates all frames' tab lists are synchronized
now; I'll keep an eye out for further anomolies.
