The version of Calc in CVS Emacs contains about five checks to see
if
it is being run under XEmacs, for compatability (although even with
these checks it's doubtful that it would run, as is, in XEmacs). Is
there going to be any effort to get the Emacs version of Calc working
under XEmacs? If not, I assume there would be no objections to
removing the checks.
Hello Jay, thanks for contacting us!
Yes, the XEmacs project is actively syncing its packages with GNU
Emacs from time to time.
I personally take care of re-builder, erc, and help out on others
occasionally.
How often the syncing is done depends on the particular maintainer of
a package. Calc does not have a single person maintainer in the
XEmacs project, which would be ideal. Instead it's maintained
collectively by the development team.
Perhaps we could discuss which checks bother you.
Hopefully someone on XEmacs-Beta(a)xemacs.org will indicate interested
to get XEmacs calc synced up soonish.
Best regards!
Adrian
