If I byte-compile I get the same problem, yes.
As Stephen points out, this is because my XEmacs is not build with a
Mule inside.
This seems to be the wrong problem though!
I can build the apel package just fine
(
make distclean
make bindist
)
from latest CVS, because I have correctly configured my
.../xemacs-packages/Local.rules
It contains this:
# Should we build the mule package?
#
BUILD_WITHOUT_MULE = t
This causes emu-mule.el (and some others requiring mule) not to be
byte-compiled when the package is built.
