I'm not sure about including it directly in the tarball but there
are other situations too where it would be good to be able to use a
library that can't be assumed to be part of the user's default
configuration.
The reason I suggested that was to enable us to make bignums an
integral part of XEmacs, like they are in CLISP or Python. If bignum
support remains an "option", its usefulness is IMO questionable.
