Report an XEmacs bug. I've no idea what "w3-1.23" is.
I doubt anyone could figure out what's wrong without example data, or
at least a backtrace.
Well, I did include a xemacs bug report in the original posting.
Anyway, I solved the problem: I complied xemacs w/ the experimental
support for GTK and GNOME. Apparently that broke the w3, as described
in the original posting. As soon as I re-complied xemacs w/o gtk or
gnome the problem disappeared.
