dig has been moved to the net-utils package. A copy resided in gnus,
which has been removed.
Could you please install the latest net-utils, 1.32, and check,
whether your apps run again?
Yes, that did it. I updated net-utils and then updated gnus (and all
those packages as well) and everything seems to be fine.
