Sure. I don't think anybody disagrees with you on that end, given the
policy of trying to keep our APIs complete and elegant in spite of the
"convenient APIs, baroque application code" preferences of some of the
leaders of our sister project.
The question is should we continue a policy that seems to have had no
benefits whatsoever in encouraging more people to use the features we
provide? Why not spend a little effort making (eg) overlay.el
reasonably robust, and save the good stuff for ourselves?
