So you should look at `late-packages'. I don't really feel
comfortable with this, but there's generally not a good solution to
the problem that packages are searched along a *path* but have to be
installed into a *directory*.
Well this specifies the correct directoy - but this directory contains
v1.09 of mail-lib, whereas XEmacs thinks it has 1.12. So where does XEmacs
get the information about which versions it has installed from?
