Fonts must correspond to a registered charset for core X; since we
don't have a Unicode charset there's no easy way to display Unicode
fonts. If you have Xft support built in, then you'll get it
automatically in any font that supports the character.
With current Xft support, there’s still a need for a Mule character set that
supports a given character, for that character to be even recognised by
XEmacs.
