It was plain silly in older XEmacsen to press M-< and find yourself
on "line 1, column 0".
Its only logically 1 in vi thinking, where point is *on* a character.
Not in Emacs thinking, where point is *between* characters.
The block cursor is what confuses people into vi thinking. The bar
cursor should be default.
