What?!? I don't get this. XEmacs definitely works here with Motif.
Nonetheless, it's true in my experience that building MULE on my
Solaris systems at my old job didn't work unless I configured
'--without-xim' or whatever the incantation of the day was. (I gather
from Stephen's email that I could have specified '--with-xim=xlib',
but I don't think I ever tried that.)
According to the PROBLEMS file, the following patches may fix up Motif
on Solaris:
107081-40 107656-07
108940-33 108652-25
Those are for Solaris 2.7 and 2.8, respectively. I was a lowly user
on the Sparc Solaris systems I used to have access to and I had no
control over what patches were applied to the systems, so I took the
expedient approach of disabling xim.
