configure and Motif

Using Lucid menubars. Using Lucid scrollbars. Using Motif dialog boxes. Using Motif native widgets. [...] Is this a working combination (Motif)? I seem to recall this being known not to work correctly. If that is the case, shouldn't the defaults be changed? The point being that ./configure with no options should produce a working XEmacs? --J.
