I'm not understanding you. What do you mean by ``The NeXT did quit.''
-- I'm assuming that you refer to a lawsuit of which I'm not aware.
If your statement involves relating NeXT to Microsoft in terms of
power and size, I'll argue against that point of view. On the other
hand, if it compares NeXT and FSF on the same terms, I'm far more
interested in hearing more about the situation.
In any case, I think that a lawsuit by FSF against Microsoft would be
a joke because I'm cynical enough to think that money and power are
bigger factors in determining outcome than being in the right.
Similarly, I think that marketing is a bigger factor than quality in
determining commercial success -- as far as I can tell, that's the
only possible explanation for Microsoft's so-called operating systems
having any signficant user base.
