But Martin didn't merely do spelling fixes. Martin implemented (and perhaps unilaterally made for all I know; I don't know where spelling policy is defined for XEmacs) a policy decision that XEmacs documentation use American spelling conventions as opposed to British. I can imagine three rationales for this, and there are probably others, some better justification than others. Some people might object; I think that reason should be ChangeLog'ed. This is a trivial example, but similarly code-irrelevant changes have occasioned violent flamewars in the past.
