Ah, I should have been more specific.
C-h f set-extent-property
does not contain a hint about its existence.
I understand it's an extension, but it might be worth to mention it in
the set-extent-property docstring, so more people find out about it.
BTW, XEmacs also supports
(info "(lispref)Atomic Extents")
since a little while.
