Also, you can only clip the ascent - and since the ascent/descent of tall
lines are adjusted to look "reasonable" the descent may be greater than the
height of the default font so you will get the whole line scrolled as soon
as the ascent has been eaten up. We could fix this, I think the adjustment
was done because you couldn't scroll over tall lines.
