I did that; I reverted the patch and "21.4.7fixed" available from CVS
as release-21-4. 21.4.8 (with Nix's revised patch) is being built
right now.

What difference does it make what we call it? The fact is that
*I* *me* *personally* messed up,
and I don't want users who habitually grab whatever is latest without
reading the lists to be hosed by something that builds but doesn't work.
Admittedly I shouldn't have pulled the r21-4-7 CVS tag; that is now
fixed (it's been restored as r21-4-7-is-broken).
