slower and slower perl parse on UNIX, not PC

I have built betas in the 21.5 series for Solaris and the PC since about .12 After .25, I have given up trying to edit Perl in the Solaris version. I now use the PC version exclusively now that our disks at work are on a SAN reachable by both the PCs and UNIX. Loading modules of considerable size (6000 lines) take 30 to 45 seconds to load, completely on the Solaris version, five to seven seconds under PC, accessing the same disks. The delay in both versions is at the point where the Fontifying (rexexps) is displayed in the progress meter. Why would the Solaris version be so much slower? What data can I provide (aside from the usual bug report stuff) to help fiogure this out? Is there a way to get a dump of what lisp is being executed upon file load? Is there a particular portion of the M I should be FR-ing? Thanks -- Matthew O. Persico
