AARRGGHH! This crept in as part of my aliasing patch.

As a workaround you can use:
--with-error-checking=noextents,notypes,notext,nogc,nomalloc,nobyte_code,noglyphs,nodisplay,nostructures
A patch will appear in the next day or so.
