So out of curiosity are you running any sub-processes in XEmacs (e.g. a
shell) when you see the problem, if so can you try without?

For what it's worth, I moved all my Windows to one workspace and
killed sDesk,
and I still see the problem. I also noticed that in my clicking back and
forth, if I clicked back on the XEmacs frame by clicking on the
title bar, it
had no effect. It seemed to only make a difference if I clicked
inside the
frame, in one of the XEmacs windows. Loading a 10-line Java
source file (JDE
enabled) took about 20 seconds going through this process, almost
all of it
spent in the font-lock progress panel.
