Even "worse": AFAIK, how the environment looks like, is an
implementation detail (at least, I haven't found any example in the
HyperSpec).
Yes and no. The precise details are, in fact, and implementation
detail. However, the spec defines environment accessors which must
accurately reflect the state of the environment in a correct
implementation.
