My config of --with-mule --with-xft=emacs,menubars seems relatively
harmless, but xft (on this ubuntu trusty box) has been a source of at
least one issue already. :-(
I can try out your config too, as an additional check.
Well, I tried yours and still didn't reproduce the problem. It's not
an exact match, though, since I have different development libraries
installed, and we may well be using different compilers (I've got gcc
4.8.3 + Fedora patches).
Can you try adding this to your configure invocation to see if it
helps? --with-cflags="-O2 -g fno-strict-aliasing"
I don't know that my config will help. I like to do lots of weird
stuff for testing purposes. But, just in case, here's the way I
configured my most recent build:
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-cflags="-gdwarf-4 -g3
-fvar-tracking-assignments -march=native -pipe -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2
-fno-strict-aliasing" --with-cflags-optimization=-O2
--with-cflags-debugging=-g3 --with-athena=3d --enable-dialogs=athena
--enable-widgets=athena --enable-external-widget --enable-bignum=gmp
--with-xft=emacs,menubars,tabs,gauges --with-mule --with-xim=xlib
--with-mail-locking=lockf --with-pop --with-pdump --with-newgc
--with-memory-usage-stats --without-wnn --with-union-type
--with-sound=nonative,alsa --with-wmcommand --with-clash-detection
--with-tls=openssl
